New Vic seniors advisory council named

The Brumby Victorian Government has announced the 15 members of the new Ministerial Advisory Council of Senior Victorians which will be chaired by Merle Mitchell, AO.

The members are Ms Jill Anwyl, North Carlton; Mr.James Brassil, Frankston; Mr.Fred Chuah, JP, Doncaster; Mrs.Anne Davie, OAM, Phillip Island; Mrs.Margot Green, Seymour; Dr.Henry Hudson, Queenscliff; Mr.Don McDonald, Mordialloc; Mrs.Beverley Peter; Mildura; Mr.Joe Pavlovic, Geelong; Mr.Cliff Picton, Glen Waverley; Mr.Peter Reid, Ballarat; Ms Georgia Richmond, Warrnambool; Ms Anne Sgro OAM, North Coburg; Dr.Heather Wheat, Southbank; Mr.Robert Yung, West Footscray.

The advisory council was established in 2001 to focus on the needs of senior Victorians by listening to their views and consulting peak seniors’ organisations.

The Chair, Merle Mitchell has served as a board member and president of both the Australian and Victorian Councils of Social Service and as director of the Springvale Community Aid and Advice Bureau.
