New super GP clinic in Geelong, Victoria

The Rudd Government has signed a contract with the General Practitioners (GP) Association of Geelong to establish the $7 million Geelong GP Super Clinic, in partnership with Barwon Health.

The GP Super Clinic will be located on the Princes Highway in Belmont and provide the local community with convenient access to General Practitioners, practice nurses and allied health providers. A pharmacy and pathology collection service is also planned for the clinic.

The next steps in progressing arrangements for the GP Super Clinic will be to obtain planning and building approval for construction of the clinic.

The GP Super Clinic will have a strong focus on education and training for students and graduates from a range of medical disciplines.

The facility will assist students and graduates from the Deakin Medical School located close by.

The GP Association of Geelong is a network of over 254 GPs across 55 practices in Geelong and the greater Surf Coast area, working to assist and represent GPs and improving the delivery of healthcare to the region.

Barwon Health is Victoria’s largest regional health service with over 21 sites stretching from Geelong down the coast to Torquay, Anglesea and Lorne.
