New peak aged care CEO
Pharmacist Patrick Reid has been announced as chief executive of peak aged care body, Leading Age Services Australia (LASA). Mr Reid will begin his appointment early next month, replacing former inaugural LASA chief executive, Gerard Mansour.

Mr Reid will begin his appointment early next month, replacing former inaugural LASA chief executive, Gerard Mansour, who will end his appointment on 1 February to support a family member with a private medical issue.
LASA chairman, General Peter Cosgrove, said Mr Reid’s appointment was a “real triumph” for the aged care sector.
“He is a very talented executive with a tremendous background in advocacy and stakeholder representation, governance, negotiation and healthcare management, all of which equip him well to lead LASA in this most significant of times for our industry,” General Cosgrove said.
Mr Reid has considerable experience in the health care industry, highlighted by his career with The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, as both an elected official and senior executive.
He has also been heavily involved in negotiating and implementing many aspects of the Community Pharmacy Agreements, bringing extensive experience in delivering national programs and policy on behalf of a member organisation.
As a pharmacist, Mr Reid said he understood the challenges facing the aged care sector – particularly those charged with caring for and housing older Australians.
“I am committed to working for the LASA members and their clients to ensure that a unified voice is heard by government and stakeholders,” Mr Reid said.
General Cosgrove added LASA had achieved much in its first year of operation.
“We are now established as the peak body in the aged care industry. We know ordinary Australians do not differentiate between private and not for profit aged care providers and nor do we.
“LASA advocates that every Australian deserves to age well and that all industry providers must be supported in order to flourish.
“Mr Reid’s appointment demonstrates LASA’s commitment to serving the needs of our industry and members is stronger than ever. This year will be a very important year for aged care reform, and we are well placed to lead this process on behalf of our members.”
