New funding for Seniors Housing

Aged Care Queensland has reminded its members to consider applying for new government funding to develop seniors housing, by  redeveloping existing  independent living units or retirement villages.

On 24 July the Federal Government announced the call for applications for its new National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS).

The Rudd Government allocated $623 million to be spent over the next four years to NRAS with the states providing over $200 million in cash or in kind.

The first round has now passed but the second round will provide another opportunity to become involved.

This would apply mainly to alternative uses for older villages as an option to closure or complete redevelopment.
