New England region in NSW multi purpose services

The tender for constructing Multi Purpose Services in the New England region in NSW (Merriwa, Tingha, Warialda and Bingara) with a combined value of $36.67 million has been awarded to Hansen Yuncken.

It is part of the NSW Government’s Rural Hospital and Health Service Program to establish viable and enhanced acute health, aged care and community health service facilities in rural communities.

The construction of the four Multi Purpose Services, which began in March 2007 and is scheduled for completion in 2008, will meet the needs of the local community by providing high-quality medical and emergency services.

The following services will be provided at the respective Multi Purpose Services:

. Merriwa MPS – 15 residential aged care beds, 8 acute care beds, 24-hour Emergency Department , diagnostic imaging, co-located ambulance service, co-located community based health service, co-located GP service, and staff accommodation.

. Tingha MPS – 8 residential aged care beds, 24-hour first-aid post, a range of Aboriginal health, primary and community health services, and administration and support services.

. Warialda MPS – 15 residential aged care beds, 10 acute care beds, 24-hour Emergency Department, co-located ambulance service, and co-located community based health service.

. Bingara MPS – 14 residential aged care beds, 7 acute care beds , 24-hour Emergency Department , diagnostic imaging, co-located ambulance service, co-located community based health service, and staff accommodation.
