Queensland not for profit aged and community care provider, Blue Care, will develop three new community and respite care centres in Coomera, Gatton and Goondiwindi to assist people in the community with services designed to promote independence and improve quality of life.

The announcement was made by Blue Care executive director, Robyn Batten, on Monday.

“For the first time Blue Care will have its own premises in Coomera and Gatton, other than leased spaces and the Goondiwindi development will replace an existing, older building,” Ms Batten said.

“This announcement has been a long time in the making and I sincerely thank everyone involved for their patience as we encountered setbacks and found solutions that paved the way forward,” she said.

Describing the projects as “exciting”, Ms Batten claimed construction was expected to begin in the first quarter of this year.

“The purpose built buildings will provide a modern work environment for staff and offer a comfortable, secure environment for clients.”

Ms Batten said the developments were made possible thanks to funding from generous bequests, local communities, the Queensland Department of Communities and Blue Care.

More detail about the projects will be released shortly once design plans are finalised.

The new centres will be constructed at:

• Blue Care Coomera Community Care – 14 The Esplanade, Coomera

• Blue Care Lockyer Community Care – 8 Dawson Drive, Gatton

• Blue Care Goondiwindi Community Care – Lot 31 and 32 Phar Lap Court, Goondiwindi.
