New centrelink voice recognition system
Centrelink has developed a new high-tech voice-recognition system which will allow customers to make contact during the day and night, up to seven days a week.
The Minister for Human Services, Senator Joe Ludwig, said that the system would allow customers “to carry out routine business over the phone faster without the need to wait in a phone or office queue. It offers customers the flexibility to choose how and when they interact with us”.
The new service is available during the extended hours of Monday 3am to midnight, Tuesday – Friday 4am to 1am, Saturday 4am to 8pm, and Sunday 4am to 10pm.
Centrelink is contacting an initial 60,000 customers who will need to have their voice patterns recorded and provide answers to personalised security questions.
