A new carers’ resource, which is expected to support more than 5,000 family and friend carers when their loved one is admitted to a general hospital, will be launched later this month.
A new carers’ resource, which is expected to support more than 5,000 family and friend carers when their loved one is admitted to a general hospital, will be launched later this month.
After more than a year of consultations and research, the Carers WA Hospital Program resource titled Prepare to Care, will be launched on Tuesday, 29 January 2013.
The resource – a 68 page bound booklet – includes a frequently asked questions section, places to record information provided by health staff, useful contact numbers and a glossary of common terminology.
Carers are often people who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness or who are frail aged. Australia has about 2.6 million carers.
Distribution of the Prepare to Care resource is expected to be released shortly after the launch.
