ACT Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher MLA, has welcomed the opening of a new Calvary Retirement Community in Bruce as a step forward towards meeting high future demand for aged care services.

Calvary Retirement Community Canberra is a residential retirement community and aged care village located opposite Calvary Health Care ACT.

“The ACT government is dedicated to taking a long-term strategic approach to meeting the accommodation, health and wellbeing needs of the Canberra aged care community,” she said.

“We are committed to working with the Australian Government, industry and service providers like Calvary Health Care to deliver high quality aged care accommodation solutions.”

Calvary Retirement Community Canberra will have 100 residential aged care places consisting of 68 high and 32 low care beds including 32 beds for people with dementia and 18 extra service places.

The Community also has 78 independent living units, 43 of which have been occupied by the first group of residents, who moved into the apartment building in May this year.

The residential care facility opened its doors to its first low care residents in October this year.
