National Herbal Medicine Week

During the third week of September, all around Australia, local herbalists will be running events to promote the use and practice of herbal medicine.

These will range from talks and presentations, to clinic open days and community events leading up to the sixth ‘International Conference on Phytotherapeutics’ being held in Canberra from 21 September to 23 September.

Also, in Canberra at the Australian National Botanic Gardens on Thursday 20 September as part of National Herbal Medicine Week, are a series of talks and demonstrations especially for the public. These include how herbal medicines are made and used and the use of kitchen herbs for common ailments.

National Herbal Medicine Week aims to promote herbal medicine to the general public, to correct misinformation and myths surrounding herbal medicine, to support research into all medicinal plants including Australian natives, to share our knowledge and show people the strength, potential and value of herbal medicine.
