The federal government has pledged $45 million to help train 24,000 aged care and construction workers after announcing the first spending from its new industry-based training program.
The National Workforce Development Fund’s initial allocation, announced in this year’s budget, will be matched by $42 million from the industry.
The Australian reports the funds will support more than 250 industry-driven projects, providing foundation or ‘top-up’ training to 23,777 workers.
Tertiary Education Minister, Chris Evans, announced the allocation last week, saying more funding rounds are planned and encourages businesses to consider participating.
