Minister considers immunisation for aged homes accreditation

Federal Minister for Ageing, Senator Santo Santoro, says he will consider a suggestion from the ACT’s chief health officer, Charles Guest, to make influenza injections part of the accreditation for aged care homes.
Eight elderly people from Canberra’s Jindalee Nursing Home have died this month after an outbreak of what is believed to be the flu virus.
ACT health authorities are still waiting for the results from tests to determine which strain of the virus is responsible for the outbreak.
