Memories to last a lifetime

For many people, memories last a lifetime. We cherish our childhood experiences; our first love, family pets and schooling years. For others, memories fade and reminiscing about our early years may become harder as we age. But what if there was a way of recollecting these moments in time – a gift we can keep for life?

For many people, memories last a lifetime. We cherish our childhood experiences; our first love, family pets and schooling years. For others, memories fade and reminiscing about our early years may become harder as we age. But what if there was a way of recollecting these moments in time – a gift we can keep for life?

Victorian author, Ida Moore-van Selow, is helping people remember significant moments in their lives with the publication of her new book A Gift for Life, which is filled with questions about all of the things the average person may take for granted.

“The book asks a person to write their life story and is a bit like an interview on your life”, Ms Moore tells DPS eNews.

“The questions in the book are there to guide you and to prompt you to write about your life. You can answer them or you can skip them; it’s up to you what you write down. There is no right or wrong way,” she says.

Describing The Gift for Life as “very light-hearted, with a few serious questions” to trigger buried memories, Ms Moore says the book is a great gift for grandparents or ageing parents.

“My grandmother passed away in a nursing home…and I wish I had a book similar to this… it stimulates conversation and enables you to get a total picture of that person,” she says.

The Gift for Life features blank pages for photographs and memorabilia, and there are beautiful illustrations which complement each chapter.

From questions like ‘what nursery rhymes can you remember and who taught you these?’ to ‘what was the best sick day you ever had when you weren’t really sick?’, The Gift for Life is the ideal way to relive the past and give your loved ones the opportunity to share in your memories.

“Your story is yours and yours alone; it’s unique and worth-telling,” Ms Moore says.

A donation of $2 from every book sold will go to various charities and community groups. Allow your memories to dance along the pages. Click here to purchase The Gift for Life from the DPS Shop.
