Mediterranean diet could lower Alzheimer’s risk
The ‘Mediterranean’ diet of fruit, vegetables, olive oil and fish has been thought to help prevent several diseases, including cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease and now Alzheimer’s.
The latest issue of the Archives of Neurology reported a study of older adults with an average age of 75 – some with Alzheimer’s but mostly not.
Their diet was analysed and compared with the typical Mediterranean diet, and those whose diets were similar was associated with a significantly lower risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
