mecwacare doubles residential aged care presence
On 1 February 2016, not-for-profit aged care provider, mecwacare, will commence ownership and management of six additional residential aged care facilities.
The acquisition boosts mecwacare's capacity to over 700 beds in 11 facilities across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The majority of staff, volunteers and facility managers across the six facilities will join mecwacare and continue to provide residential services and lifestyle programs to residents.
mecwacare chief executive Michele Lewis is confident that the organisation’s experienced management will ensure their residential and home care services will thrive in an increasingly complex aged care sector.
“In line with our not-for-profit values, mecwacare is committed to providing affordable and high quality care for the elderly. We will continue with a strong growth agenda.
“With our recent expansion to 11 aged care residences across Victoria and record of upgrading facilities, we are building our capacity to maintain and develop quality residential care services for our clients, residents and the community for years to come,” according to Ms Lewis.
The facilities, located in Box Hill, Mont Albert North, Westmeadows, Traralgon (Gippsland), Hamlyn Heights (Geelong), and Terang (Western Victoria) were previously operated by VincentCare Victoria.
The purchase is part of mecwacare’s five year strategic plan for growth into a Victoria-wide service provider.
