The five Queensland finalists met at Minter-Ellison’s Brisbane offices at the start of the month where the announcement was made as guests enjoyed coffee, pastries and a stunning city view.

Ms Julian says she is thrilled with her award and the recognition for her hard work and dedication.

“I am so happy, but I will try again next year for a win!” she adds.

Jeanie-Maree Hughes, Ms Julian’s colleague at Carlyle Gardens, says her win is a great honour and well deserved.

“Ms Julian displays a genuine empathy and openness that has made each and every one of us feel like a member of a family.”

Residents were also elated at the announcement.

“I think we have won the very best of all managers in Mandy Julian,” says Mrs Bobbie Berkery, a resident who has lived at Carlyle Gardens for 23 years.

“Mandy has the kind of personality that puts everyone at ease and she is always smiling and friendly.”

The winning Queensland manager, Jan Beutel, from Churches of Christ Care, will now go on to attend the National Village Manager of the Year awards in Sydney.

The award’s purpose is to recognise the village manager, staff and residents who work towards the ultimate goal of a successful, harmonious and happy village.
