Majority of Australians not brushing twice a day

Posted
by DPS

An Oral Hygiene Study undertaken by Galaxy Research in February 2011 and released by dental products company, Colgate and the Australian Dental Association (ADA), reveals that the majority of Australians are failing to brush their teeth twice a day, with alarming health and financial consequences.

Dentists and the ADA recommend brushing twice a day but although a significant 68% of people are aware of the guidelines, they are failing to act on them.

To tackle the problem head-on, Colgate, in partnership with the ADA, is launching the ‘Brush Night and Day’ campaign.

Tooth decay is Australia’s most prevalent health problem – each year, 11 million teeth will become decayed, leading to many Australians requiring costly, often complex treatment.
