Leave the needle behind

The doctors’ claims suggest Botox, which is a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment to remove signs of ageing via a syringe, may become a fading trend.
The Age, last week, reported four in five people think wrinkles are the “most ageing feature on women”, as found by a CPSA survey last year.
The article referred to Botulinum cream, which avoids the use of injections entirely. Trials recently found the cream can reportedly reduce crow’s feet when applied to small wrinkles around the ear; however there have not been any results as yet in the cream’s effectiveness of forehead frown lines.
However, Melbourne-based cosmetic surgeon, Dr Ben Mass tells DPS News regardless of new emerging anti-ageing treatments, “Botox will not become less popular”.
“Those who aren’t afraid of needles will continue to use Botox with effective results. Those uneasy with needles will use alternative methods, such as new anti-ageing creams,” he claims.
“There will be more and more anti-ageing options available to people as the population ages.”
With the Botulinum cream in its developmental stage, CPSA’s Dr Susan Austin tells The Age “only time will tell”.
“The absence of a needle delivery system may also prove popular with patients… and Australians are enthusiastic adopters of new cosmetic procedures,” she says.
