Labor’s discussion paper on ageing Australia

Senator Jan McLucas, Shadow Minister for Ageing, Disability and Carers has released a Discussion Paper Labor’s Goals for an Ageing Australia: Activity, Quality and Security. She did so today (20 September) at the ACSA National Conference on the Gold Coast.

The paper is to encourage discussion to improve the future of, services for, and care of older people in Australia. It includes more than aged care, encompassing significant issues associated with ageing such as housing, older workers, and living healthy and happy lives.

Senator McLucas has already had discussions over the content with leading stakeholders and associations. She is now seeking input from a wider range of interested persons and groups and has asked for comment by 10 November. Copies of the discussion paper are at www.janmclucas.net, and comments may be sent to heather.witham@aph.gov.au
