Japanese porn moves for seniors
At a very healthy 74 years of age, Shigeo Tokuda has developed a thriving career as an elder statesman of Japanese porn movies which enjoy a handsome niche market with the country’s ageing community.
Formerly a travel agent, Mr Tokuda has now appeared in 300 hard-core sex movies over a 15 year period.
“I’ve always wanted to do something different, things people don’t normally do,” he said.
The latest series of movies are titled the ‘Tokuda Project’, include specials such as ‘Forbidden Elderly care’, and are advertised with lines such as ‘Oh, What Pleasure… Don’t be Ashamed of Getting Old’, and ‘Lust is Medicine’.
Shigeo often stars with 72 year-old Fujiko Ito but also does the business with actresses 50 years younger.
Director Gaiichi Kohno said that “sometimes it takes a while to start the action but Shigeo is rich with the experience we make use of, and so in that sense it is very easy to shoot”.
Japan has 30 million people aged 65 or older with elderly porn accounting for up to 30% of the sex movie market which overall brings in around $27.6 billion a year.
