Minister for Community Services, Lisa Neville, has announced $1.25 million in grants to councils or other community based agencies to support elderly, frail or people with disabilities to develop personal emergency plans ahead of the fire season.
The primary target group for assistance is Home and Community Care (HACC) service users, however, people who are not currently HACC clients or receiving any other assistance, but who are socially isolated, have some level of cognitive impairment and are living in high risk areas, may come to the attention of HACC service providers.
In that event, assistance provided by HACC Assessment Services can be accessed to develop a personal emergency plan as well.
