IRT makes city move

Age care provider, IRT’s corporate services office this week takes up residence in ahm’s Market St building in Wollongong as part of a growth plan for the company.

Chief executive, Nieves Murray, expressed her delight at the new office space in the 4-star Green Star building and the company’s appreciation for the state government support to relocate from IRT’s previous base at Woonona.

“IRT has a long-term association with Woonona since establishing our headquarters in the Woonona Bulli Sports & Soccer Club’s premises in 1982. Since then we have more than quadrupled in size, outgrowing the capacity of that building to provide services as effectively as we’d like,” Ms Murray said.

“We’re particularly grateful the New South Wales state government will provide IRT with some financial support through the Illawarra Advantage Fund, which directly supports our plans to grow jobs in the organisation.”

NSW Minister for State and Regional Development, Ian Macdonald, said the state government was pleased to support the relocation.

“The Illawarra Advantage Fund was established for this very reason, to support the sound growth plans of local companies that contribute to the local economy through jobs and contributions to local businesses,” Minister Macdonald said.

“This is very much the case with IRT, which has grown exponentially during its first 40 years to provide products and services to almost 5,000 older Australians – with 30 villages now stretching throughout their Illawarra heartland to Sydney, the South Coast and the ACT.”

Ms Murray noted IRT was increasingly being called on to share their success story in the aged care and seniors’ living sector after continuing to grow despite a global financial crisis that pressured many organisations.

IRT is now located on Level 3, 77 Market St Wollongong. For further information go to http://www.irt.org.au
