Insomnia research in Vic

Posted
by DPS

RMIT University and the Institute of Breathing and Sleep at Austin Health are seeking participants to take part in a trial investigating two gentle exercise programs as a treatment for insomnia in people aged 60 and over.

The trial does not involve medication and you don’t have to be fit or active to do this study, just mobile.

The researchers are looking for people who are sedentary (exercise less than 120 minutes per week), have a BMI of less than 33, and have no major medical conditions that would interfere with their ability to partake in the study.

They also need to be willing to attend two exercise classes per week for 12 weeks, held at the Austin hospital, in Heidelberg, Victoria.

The Austin Health Human Research Ethics Committee and the RMIT’s Human Research Ethics Committee have approved the study.
