The Rathbone Family, Victoria’s Mount Langi Ghiran and the 14 Degrees Culinary Team, have joined forces to host a charity auction cocktail party in memory of the late, great, winemaker Trevor Mast.
Funds raised on the night will go The Lovell Foundation, an organisation dedicated to promoting residential facilities for people with younger onset dementia.
Mr Mast passed away earlier this year with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 63 years after being diagnosed with the disease in 2006, at the age of 57.
The event, Cool & Spicy, which will feature creative finger food and a selection of some of Victoria’s finest wines, will be held next Wednesday (24 October) at 14 Degrees Café, 262 Lorimer Street, Port Melbourne.
Wine buffs know Mr Mast as the former owner and winemaker at Mount Langi Ghiran in Victoria’s Grampians. He was a pioneer of winemaking in the Grampians and to tensofthousands of wine drinkers he will forever be known as the creator of the iconic Mount Langi Ghiran Riesling and much lauded Mount Langi Ghiran Shiraz.
Gordon Gebbie, commercial director of the Rathbone Wine Group, said: “The disease progression was a difficult time for Trevor and his family and highlighted the need for facilities for people with younger onset dementia.
“The Cool and Spicy event will raise money to help make these facilities a reality. An incredible range of live and silent auction items that will appeal to every pocket and taste will be featured, with auctioneer, Andrew Caillard, conducting the live auction,” Mr Gebbie added.
Wine industry colleagues and friends of Mr Mast have supported the event by donating an exciting array of iconic wines which will be auctioned on the night.
Some of the items on offer include:
• Tickets to the Leeuwin Estate concert plus lunch at Xanadu Winery
• 1999 Jeroboam (three litre) Mount Langi Ghiran Shiraz
• Return helicopter ride for four to Mount Langi Ghiran for tour, tasting and lunch
• Golf for four at Heritage Country Club, lunch at Yering Station and dinner and accommodation for two at Chateau Yering
• Dinner for eight at your home with Nicky Reimer, chef at Union Dining
