Sarah Constructions, responsible for the creation of Southern Cross Care (SA&NT)’s Oakfield Lodge, received the ‘National Lifestyle Housing for Seniors Living Award – Aged Care Facilities’ for building the Mount Barker facility.

Judged on a number of key project factors, including budget, program, team performance and complexity the construction company won over an impressive list of finalists, including Kerrisdale Gardens Aged Care Centre in Mackay Queensland and Opal Residential Aged Care Rutherford in Newcastle.

Southern Cross Care is immensely proud of this project’s achievements, along with the outcomes it is producing, especially for our residents, and it’s wonderful for Sarah Construction to receive this prestigious accolade for the development,” according to  Southern Cross Care (SA&NT) chief executive officer (CEO) David Moran.

The state of the art aged care facility, located in the Adelaide Hills, was using environmentally friendly design principles. The development contributes to a sustainable community which is attractive to residents, visitors and the surrounding community.

As managing contractors, Sarah Constructions, delivered on time and under budget, despite losing 40 days to inclement weather. The project was a great accomplishment and it is wonderful to see them receive this industry recognition,” Mr Moran says.

HammondCare’s HammondGrove independent living estate in Miranda was named best retirement village construction, winning the award for ‘National Lifestyle Housing for Seniors Living Award – Retirement Villages/Independent Living from Master Builders Australia.

HammondCare’s General Manager of Property and Capital Works, Michael Cooney, says the award is further recognition of the wonderful work from builders Taylor Constructions, architects Bickerton Masters, as well as HammondCare’s Property and Capital works team.

“Our team worked tirelessly during construction and commissioning to deliver an outstanding lifestyle choice for over 55s. For HammondGrove Miranda to now be acknowledged as the best retirement village in the country is extremely pleasing.” according to Mr Cooney.

HammondGrove Miranda was created to encourage community connectivity for residents and was designed to integrate naturally with both the Miranda and broader Shire communities.
