A new home care video has been created to help people “cut through” what is often perceived as a complex and stressful process of receiving support.

According to Michelle De Ronchi, St Ives chief operating officer care, the video is a tool to help people “cut through” what is often perceived as a complex and stressful process of receiving support.

Featuring St Ives clients, family members and carers, the video offers a genuine insight into the types of services that people might access. It explains how St Ives can work with a client and their loved ones to customise a care package around individual needs, to keep them living at home for as long as possible.

“Our oldest home care client in Western Australia is 108 years old which really does show that, with the right support, people can continue to enjoy living independently at home,” Ms De Ronchi says.

The video also features 96 year old client, Nicolette, explaining how home care services have helped her to enjoy her life at home and continue doing things important to her.

“The video offers a great and entertaining alternative for people to learn about what services are actually available in the home and how to access them, including those services that have the costs heavily subsidised by the government,” Ms De Ronchi says.

“When we launched a similar video on our website and the St Ives YouTube channel for our residential care centres late last year, we were surprised to record more than 1,500 views within only a matter of months,” she says.

The launch of the St Ives Home Care video follows the distribution of 150,000 St Ives guides to getting help to stay at home across Perth metropolitan suburbs, outlining the three simple steps to getting help to stay at home.
