Hearing Awareness Week 19-25 August

‘Get the Message’ is the theme of the annual Hearing Awareness Week, organised by the national Deafness Forum.
In raising awareness about hearing loss, it aims to help those who are affected to achieve greater acceptance and feel better about themselves. One in six Australians has some form of hearing impairment.
Part of the awareness story is to educate the public about ways of reducing the incidence of hearing loss or chronic ear disorders and measures that can be taken to improve the quality of life for those affected.
Free hearing tests and screenings will be held at many centres.
