Health premium withholding from pensions to start for four million elderly Japanese
The withholding of premiums paid through the pension system has just started for about three million elderly Japanese people, as part of the new health care system for those aged 75 and older, according to a report in the Yomiuri Shimbun.
Additionally, withholding from pension accounts will start for about one million people aged between 65 and 74 under the national health care insurance system for self employed people.
In total, about 6.69 million people under the new health care system for the aged and about 1.88 million people under the national health care system will see their premiums withheld from their pension benefits.
Withholding from pension accounts began in April under the new health care system for aged people and the national health insurance system.
From 15 October, newly included on the withholding list are about two million people, who are covered by the new health care system for people who are 75 years and older, and who did not have to pay premiums as they were dependents of their children or others.
