A Western Australian not for profit care provider has developed a streamlined approach to simplifying the process of finding an aged care facility for a loved one.
Care provider Bethanie last week launched the Central Admissions Team, which allows potential residents and their families to register their interest in one central location at the Bethanie head office, leaving the Central Admissions Team to research and find a suitable placement at one of their facilities.
Before the introduction of this team, it was not uncommon for any person considering aged care in Western Australia to undergo about 30 assessments over the first 24 hours of being placed into a facility, according to the care provider.
In an effort to streamline and speed up the admissions process, the Central Admissions Team assists residents with pre admission paperwork, allowing residents to move into a home or bed as soon as one becomes available.
The team also sets up a ‘care plan’, designed to ease the transition of residents’ moving from their home into a low or high care environment.
Christopher How, Bethanie chief operating officer of residential services, says the Central Admissions Team can also provide respite and community services during the residential aged care waiting period, which may enhance quality of living and keep people in their homes for longer.
The Central Admissions Team can be contacted via Bethanie Connect on 1300 883 893.
