Greens to introduce euthanasia legislation in Federal Parliament
Greens leader, Senator Bob Brown, plans to introduce euthanasia legislation into Federal Parliament to enable doctors to help terminally ill people end their lives in Commonwealth territories. It will be similar to the NT legislation passed 10 years ago but disallowed by Federal Parliament.
Commonwealth territories exclude the ACT and NT but include Norfolk Island, Christmas Island and the Australian Antarctic Territory.
However, the bill is unlikely to be debated, let alone voted on, during an election year.
