Govt opens consultations for disability supported accommodation options
The Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Families, Mal Brough has opened the consultation process for developing options for providing 1,750 new supported accommodation places for people with disabilities.
The priority for additional places will be for people with severe and profound disabilities aged 40 years and over, who are currently cared for by a parent who is 65 years or over.
Public meetings will be held from 10 September in metropolitan and regional centres around Australia through to mid October 2007. Written submissions will also be accepted up to 26 October.
A discussion paper has been prepared to assist the process.
