Govt loans boost far north Qld aged care beds
The Federal Government has announced extra aged care beds in Cairns, in far north Queensland, by providing interest free loans to two new developments.
An aged care precinct has been allocated $9 million for a 45 bed facility in the suburb of Manunda, which includes room for 30 low care residents.
Another $1.3 million will go to Innisfree Aged Care to boost bed numbers from 60 to 90.
Leichhardt MP, Jim Turnour, says he hopes both projects will start building soon.
“I know that Innisfree Aged Care is well down the track to building their facility down at Whiterock,” he said.
“The committee for Buffalo Memorial Homes … they are looking to secure a block in Manunda and I’ll be working with them and the State .”
