Govt closes Belvedere nursing home in Vic
The Department of Health and Ageing has forced the closure of Belvedere Park Aged Care in Melbourne after a four day audit found it had breached 42 of the 44 accreditation standards and had ‘serious and widespread problems’.
“The level of non-compliance… is unprecedented and left the department with no option other than to revoke the home’s eligibility to operate as an approved provider and to receive any further Commonwealth care subsidies,” a departmental spokeswoman said.
The home was owned by Saitta Pty Ltd, a company which had another of its facilities, Kenilworth, closed in 2001.
The company was planning to challenge the decision in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
