Govt advice available on 20 March Aged Care Reforms
On 20 March 2008, important changes to Australia’s residential aged care system came into effect.
The reforms will better meet the needs of aged care home residents who require high levels of care by increasing the maximum care payments made by the Australian Government.
The system of fees and charges to be paid by residents is also made simpler, better and fairer.
The Department of Health and Ageing has provided extensive information on its website. It covers details of the new schemes and services, questions and answers, booklets, and information sheets on the new accommodation supplements, new basic daily fee arrangements, and simplified income tested fees.
