Royal Hobart Hospital will get Commonwealth funding, but not for a new hospital. The Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon, has said Royal Hobart Hospital will receive $330,000 to replace four operating tables and a $212,000 telemetry system for the cardiothoracic ward.
It will also receive $110,000 for drying cabinets for day surgery, $80,000 for 12 patient transfer trolleys, $43,000 for a new nurse call system for the neuro surgery ward, and a $23,000 endoscopic probe for the main theatres.
The announcement was made after the latest consultation in the Rudd Government’s community meetings to discuss improving the health care system.
However the Minister ruled out Commonwealth funding for a new Royal Hobart Hospital.
