Funding for innovative community-based dementia projects
Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, Mark Butler, has called for applications from groups and organisations seeking funding for projects that increase awareness of dementia in local communities.
Mr Butler said $1.5 million would be available for the fourth round of the Dementia Community Support Grants program, which is designed to encourage innovative local services for people with dementia, their families and carers.
Funding of up to $50,000 will be available for projects of up to 12 months in duration. Priority will be given to those that target specific needs groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people in rural and remote areas, those who are socially isolated and people with younger onset dementia.
The previous three rounds of this program have provided $6.3 million for more than 150 projects.
