Fun and all that ‘jazz’

Queensland’s Tall Trees Caboolture residents will soon reminisce an era they once cherished as they slip on their dancing shoes to pay tribute to the ‘Naughty 40s’.

The aged care facility will host a free ‘jazz day’ on Tuesday, 9 October. The event will begin with a free high tea and a midday lunch for a small cost.

Residents will also be entertained by a live performance by Charlotte Mclean Duo – who perform well-known jazz tunes with a modern twist.

Tall Trees lifestyle coordinator, Kerri Stockham, says the jazz performance will be sure to have residents reminiscing an era they “truly cherished”.

“We recently held a 1950s day for Seniors Week, and everyone enjoyed it so much they were asking for a similar event to be organised straight away,” Ms Stockham says.

“The residents suggested we do a 40s theme, so this time they can swing and sway to the slower jazz songs that they all enjoyed dancing to in their younger years.”

Tall Trees Caboolture’s last event attracted more than 70 seniors both from their care community, other Tall Trees communities and the general Caboolture area.

“What started out as a way to treat the residents for Seniors Week, ended up being a big and exciting event for Tall Trees and it felt good to put something like this on for the whole community,” Ms Stockham says.

“Just like the last event, we know we’ll have our guests up and dancing with each other and singing along to their favourites and having an absolute ball.”

Cost of the lunch is $11. RSVP by 5 October. Contact Tall Trees on (07) 3442 9378.
