Free public lecture during Dementia Awareness Week
Alzheimer’s Australia annual Dementia Awareness Week will kick off today and conclude on Friday 25 September. The 2009 theme is ‘Dementia … facing the epidemic’.
To raise awareness about this chronic health condition facing Australia, Alzheimer’s Australia Victoria’s main Dementia Awareness Week 2009 event is a free public lecture by international guest speaker, Professor Constantine Lyketsos from the United States.
With over 1,100 new cases in Australia each week, the lecture will present a vision for world class dementia care and discuss:
- the economic and social significance of dementia worldwide;
- latest research into cause and treatment;
- identifying those most at risk of dementia; and
- ways to improve the quality of dementia care.
The lecture will be held on Thursday 17 September, 5.30pm to 7.00pm at the University of Melbourne, Sunderland Theatre. Bookings are essential.
