Fraud Fortnight awareness campaign from 24 February
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is running a Fraud Fortnight awareness campaign from 24 February to 5 March.
The power of scammers is reduced by greater public awareness, so the ACCC is encouraging people to learn more about scams.
They can take the form of fake lotteries, advance-fee frauds, get-rich-quick schemes and ‘miracle’ health cures.
If you have been the victim of a scam, you can report it to SCAMwatch to help others avoid falling victims to similar frauds.
So if you don’t know what phishing and Nigerian scams are, visit ww.scamwatch.gov.au.
