Foot Health Week October 8-14

Posted
by DPS

Foot Injuries Can Cripple Your Business: Protect Feet at Work is the theme for 2006 Foot Health Week, 8-14 October.

Figures from the Australian Safety and Compensation Council show that the typical workplace foot and toe injury is costing $5,800 and four weeks off work. Agriculture and transport are where most injuries (per capita) are occurring, followed by manufacturing, construction and mining.

But workers in the retail, healthcare and restaurant sectors could also be suffering unnecessary foot discomfort, as people who spend long hours on their feet at work are more susceptible to foot problems.

Too often, people are putting up with sore feet on the job. Problem feet should be checked by a registered podiatrist to avoid long-term injury.

Podiatrists throughout Australia and New Zealand will conduct foot health assessments in workplaces as part of Foot Health Week.
