Southern Health recently opened its new 100 bed aged care facility, Chestnut Gardens in Victoria, marking a national first in aged care as a teaching nursing home.
Chestnut Gardens was established through collaboration between Southern Health and Deakin University’s School of Nursing and Midwifery.
The facility has been built as a series of houses, each with its own colour theme and environmental features.
The facility also has several activity areas and dining rooms, including a private area for family celebrations and outdoor areas where residents can dine, enjoy recreational activities or develop their own gardens.
