Federal Labor – investment in Tasmanian health
The Leader of the Opposition, Kevin Rudd, and the Shadow Minister for Health, Nicola Roxon, have unveiled Federal Labor’s Health Partnership with Tasmania.
A Labor Government will provide more than $50 million in additional health services in Tasmania, particularly in the north and north west where people suffer from very high rates of chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes and kidney disease.
The package includes $15 million for an integrated care unit in Launceston, $15 million to set up four so-called ‘super clinics’ around the state, and nearly $8 million for additional cancer treatment services. The funding promise is part of the Labor Party’s $2 billion National Health Reform Plan.
The package would improve primary care and preventative health services and provide better integration between hospital and primary care services, they said.
