Falls Prevention Guidelines Review

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is reviewing the Preventing falls and harm from falls in older people: Best practice guidelines for Australian hospitals and residential aged care facilities, to incorporate the latest evidence and practice.

The guidelines are designed to inform clinical practice and assist hospitals and residential aged care facilities develop and implement practices to reduce falls and the harm sustained in falls. 

The reviewed guidelines are expected to be available in early 2009.

The Commission is seeking user views and a Falls Prevention Guidelines user survey is available for download from www.safetyandquality.gov.au/internet/safety/publishing.nsf/content/FallsGuidelines
