Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC) holders in New South Wales (NSW) will be eligible for a $145 energy rebate from 1 July this year to help pay their electricity bills.
Energy Minister, John Robertson, announced the rebate would be extended to one million households including single parents, low income card holders, students and households receiving Farm Family Assistance.
Despite this, electricity prices are expected to soar with the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal’s decision to increase energy prices by 7-13% this year, with further increases to follow.
The NSW government is planning to launch an Energy Price Comparison website later this year so that NSW residents can easily find the best energy deals on offer.
