Employer of the Year

Employers who have championed the employment of people with disability are to be recognised, through the Prime Minister’s ‘Employer of the Year’ awards.

The Minister for Workforce Participation, Dr Sharman Stone, has called on the community to nominate employers and employment service providers who have made a significant contribution in helping people with disability into work.

“The Prime Minister’s Employer of the Year Awards recognise excellence in the employment of people with a disability,” Dr Stone said. The Howard Government has provided unprecedented funding to support people with disability to find suitable employment. “We have invested $3.6 Billion to deliver better employment assistance, including rehabilitation, long and short term wage subsidies and funds to modify workplaces to meet the needs of people with disability,” Dr Stone said.

Nominations for the Employer of the Year Awards are available at www.workplace.gov.au/eya and close on Monday 18 September 2006.
