Elderly Australians import and manufacture suicide drug
The ABC Four Corners Program last night showed elderly Australians
attempting to manufacture the lethal drug Nembutal as an alternative to
illegally purchasing and importing it from Mexico, where it is sold by
veterinarians to sedate and euthanase animals.
The euthanasia advocate and member of Exit International, Dr Philip
Nitschke, was shown on the program giving seminars to elderly people
where he recommended Nembutal as the suicide drug of choice.
The elderly people, who ranged in age up to 96 years said they believed there should be a legal means for people to choose their own time and place of death and to die with dignity.
