DVD to help people control relationship with paid carers

Clients and carers from the Brotherhood of St Laurence have produced a DVD to encourage people to take control of their relationship with paid carers to ensure they receive quality care.

The ‘Blurring the Boundaries’ DVD was created following discussions at a client and carer forum when people said they weren’t sure how to deal with conflict with their paid carers.

Three particular scenarios are used in the DVD to highlight situations where service lapses can occur: when a carer leaves early, when a carer doesn’t complete the required work and when a carer is disrespectful.

The DVD can be used with clients to encourage discussion and help individuals recognise the differences between good and bad care.

For more information about the ‘Blurring the Boundaries’ project contact Lisa Rollinson from Brotherhood Community Care on (03) 9782 8760 or email lrollinson@bsl.org.au.
