Draft Community Packaged Care Guidelines
In line with the Australian Government’s commitment to streamline community care programs and reduce complexity for both approved providers and care recipients, the Department of Health and Ageing has developed Draft Community Packaged Care Guidelines which aim to provide a complete guide to the following Australian Government funded packaged care programs:
. Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs);
. Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH); and
. Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia (EACHD).
The Draft Guidelines explain the Australian Government’s policy and operational context for the packaged care programs including the responsibilities for approved providers under the Aged Care Act 1997 (the Act) and the Aged Care Principles (the Principles), which govern the operation of packaged care programs.
Both the CACP program and the EACHD program have some form of existing guidelines, however, the Draft Guidelines have streamlined common elements of each of the programs and also include EACH.
In addition to this, the Draft Guidelines have been drafted into a user-friendly format encompassing requirements of all three packaged care programs.
