DPS Publishing supports pet therapy
For many of us, pets are like family. Not only do they offer companionship and unconditional love, but emerging research suggests pets may have the ability to boost health and general well-being. Helping to raise awareness about the benefits of pet therapy in the aged and community care sector, DPS Publishing proudly sponsored the Pet Therapy stand at the ACSA conference in Sydney last week.

Helping to raise awareness about the benefits of pet therapy in the aged and community care sector, DPS Publishing proudly sponsored the Pet Therapy stand at the Aged & Community Service Association (ACSA) 2011 National Conference in Sydney last week.
During the three-day conference, delegates made friends with dogs of all sizes and breeds which were provided by Delta Society Australia.
But barking was not the only noise heard from the busy DPS Pet Therapy stand – ducks, chickens, a parrot and rabbit, courtesy of Party Pets in association with Old Kentucky Mobile Farm were also favourites among the delegates who flocked to the stand to catch a glimpse of our furry friends.
DPS Publishing’s very own cockatiel also made some friends along the way in the ‘Win an iPad’ competition where conference delegates were invited to name the cockatiel to be in the running to win an Apple iPad 2, courtesy of DPS Publishing.
From names like Bertie Bird to Awol, it was a difficult judging process, but shaking the feathers of other entries was Karen Howlett of Torbay Retirement Villages in Queensland, who took home the iPad after impressing the judges with her winning entry ‘Peaches’.
Peaches was adopted by Denise Fewtrell of BrightSky Australia in New South Wales, who is featured in the picture above with DPS Publishing’s National Advertising Sales Manager, Damon Schultz. Ms Fewtrell was runner-up in the competition with her equally as impressive entry – ‘Picaso’.
While games were played and much fun and excitement was had, conference delegates were also educated on the benefits of pet therapy by Delta Society and Old Kentucky Mobile Farm.
Proud to support these largely volunteer-driven pet therapy providers, DPS Publishing also invited delegates to browse through the latest editions of the DPS Guide to Aged Care, Australia’s most valued and sought-after directory for aged and community care.
Conference delegates were also taken on a journey of the recent updates to DPS Publishing’s website, AgedCareGuide.com.au, including the website’s new Employment feature, Vacancy register and the Latest News in aged and community care.
