The late disability advocate, Paul Collier, has been elected to the Upper House in the South Australian Parliament.
Paul suffered a brain haemorrhage and died on 9 March. But his name remained on the ballot paper after his death.
For the first time in history, South Australian voters had the opportunity to vote for a deceased candidate.
Mr Collier’s place in the Legislative Council will be taken by the No.2 candidate on the Dignity For Disability group ticket, Kelly Vincent.
Ms Vincent will hold the position for the next 8 years, two terms of 4 years.
